Interstellar – More Than a movie

I usually stay away from current films….all the distopias they put up on screen that are rescued by hobbits or young adults or
superheroes….and to the overorchestrated music and pyrotechnics meant to cover insufficiencies in the script and the acting…but
INTERSTELLAR proved people might be able to get themselves out of the mess they got themselves into in terms of a dying world.
Cosmology has always caught my imagination. Who can resist black holes and wormholes and parallel dimensions and strings that are
holding us all together although we cannot feel them here? We are in a transitional time here on earth when old time religions have lost their hold on us as we feel the beauty of wider more mysterious worlds that the Hubble telescope returns to us. Much of the old idea of a King in the Skies is giving way to boundaries that drop away to show an endless delight (and fright) of spacial
concepts that spread out and out beyond our abilty to understand them. We are — as the British say — gob-smacked.
INTERSTELLAR takes on this world within worlds. It shows us even the scientists who understand something of a larger dynamic can be petty in their motives, and it dares to place the concept of Love
beyond a night in the sack.

About christineemmert

Words have been part of my life. First the spoken word in my time as an actress and increasingly the written word in my shift to writer. I write across the genres, but mostly as a playwright and poet. My interest as my life extends is in the realm of tethering myth to the mundane reality where I live. In this vein I have expanded into stories and novels. Presently I look at how myths taken from past cultures can affect us today. Hence my novella of Lilith which is out on Kindle . I live in the Eastern Woodlands where I try to incorporate nature into my many writing projects. We are so in danger of losing that link to our very planet!
