Black Friday / Holiday Festivities

I remember previously remarking the first Christmas did not take place at Walmart….so how did we get from a lowly manger with
a homeless family finding temporary shelter to people trampling each other to death to die objects which — for the most part —
they will have discarded, broken or re-gifted by next year.

I am not a shopaholic. You would have a hard time running into me at a Mall, never mind running me over. If I look forward to Christmas at all it’s because I am loving the music although I little believe the angels are singing in the skies. Call me prejudice against the need to buy people and one’s self things that are not needed or even wanted in a frenzy.

I try to give to my family in other ways….but they look bewildered when I come up with cards that thank them for donations I provided to various charities.

The meek should inherit the earth….and all the bounty on it.
The crazed shoppers should stay at the Malls until they run out of
money and also run out of gluttony.

About christineemmert

Words have been part of my life. First the spoken word in my time as an actress and increasingly the written word in my shift to writer. I write across the genres, but mostly as a playwright and poet. My interest as my life extends is in the realm of tethering myth to the mundane reality where I live. In this vein I have expanded into stories and novels. Presently I look at how myths taken from past cultures can affect us today. Hence my novella of Lilith which is out on Kindle . I live in the Eastern Woodlands where I try to incorporate nature into my many writing projects. We are so in danger of losing that link to our very planet!
